Richard G. Hoffman

September 22, 1924 — November 12, 2005

Richard G. Hoffman, age 81, of West Bend, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2005, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center in the town of West Bend.

He was born on September 22,1924, in Milwaukee, to the late Max and Ida (nee Jordan) Hoffman. At an early age he and his family moved to Minneapolis, MN. Just after his high school graduation WWII began. During that time Richard served his country by enlisting in the United States Army Air Corp.

After the war he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Marion J. Phillips, on July 15, 1948 in Minneapolis, MN.

He began working at Motors Insurance Corporation, a division of General Motors, as a Regional Claims Manager. During his career he had the opportunity to work in Minneapolis, Duluth, and Chicago. He was employed with the company for 30 years before retiring in 1981. After his retirement he worked for another GM Appraiser and eventually began his own appraisal business. Richard and Marion moved to West Bend in 1993.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Marion; three children, Susan (John) Conwell of West Bend, Judy (Dean) Smith of Madison, and R. Scott (Denise) Hoffman of Coral Springs, FL; six grandchildren, Sandra (Patrick) Ebel, Christine (FiancAC. Eric Clyse) Conwell, Jennifer (Andrew Timm) Conwell, Scott (Melissa) Conwell, Jeremy, and Justin Smith; five great-grandchildren, Lauren and Erik Ebel, Shania and Austin Martinez, and Braeden Owen Conwell. He is further survived by a sister-in-law, Carol (Warren) Vanderlinden of Fergus Falls MN; a brother-in-law, Roy Walters of Apple Valley, MN; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mabel Montgomery; and a sister-in-law, Betty Walters.

In accordance with Richard's request, private cremation services were held.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society or charity of the donors' choice in memory of Richard would be greatly appreciated.
