Richard Stefanovic, 83, of St. Michaels, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk.
He was born on April 3, 1926, in Milwaukee, the son of the late Fabian and Mary (Havranek) Stefanovic, and on July 7, 1951, he was united in marriage to Elaine Gedig at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Sheboygan.
Richard proudly served his country in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 Kewaskum and was a past commander. He was employed by Master Lock in Milwaukee, retiring after 35 years of service and was a member of the Master Lock Retirees.
Richard was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Michaels, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Knights of Columbus Father Casper Rehrl Council 1964 West Bend, Our Lady of Holy Hill Assembly 1677 and was a past grand knight.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Elaine; six children, Gregory (Susan) Stefanovic of Houston, Texas, Matthew (Cynthia) Stefanovic of Glendale, Arizona, Richard S. Stefanovic of Milwaukee, Kristine Balazs of Baltimore, Maryland, Amy Stefanovic of Wabeno and Victoria (Glen) Milkus of Slinger; a sister, Nancy (Paul) Hagerty of Oviedo, Florida; nine grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary Stefanovic.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard was held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 8881 Forestview Road, Kewaskum (St. Michaels), preceded by a Knights of Columbus Third Degree Prayer Service at 12:45 p.m.
Burial, with military graveside rites by members of the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 Kewaskum, followed Mass in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends called at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
