Richard A. Weis

Richard A. Weis, 89, of West Bend, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2014, at Lighthouse in West Bend.

He was born on June 25, 1925, in Allenton, the son of the late Frank and Emma (Neuy) Weis, and on July 4, 1947, he was united in marriage to Adeline Volm at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. Adeline preceded Richard in death on November 25, 2009.

Richard proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was employed by the West Bend Company in West Bend retiring after 42 years of service, and was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend.   Richard will fondly be remembered as one who enjoyed fishing, playing cards (especially sheepshead and solitaire) and going to the casino.

Those Richard leaves behind to cherish his memory include three granddaughters, Laura (Kevin) Stautz of Kewaskum, Jenny (Brad) Zuba and Angie Gorman (special friend, Jay Haller) both of West Bend; four great-grandchildren, Andrew Daugherty, Alexia and Nicholas Stautz, and Michael Zuba; his former son-in-law, James (Jean) Gorman of West Bend; his sister, Odelia Peters of West Bend; his brother-in-law, Merlin (Carol) Volm of Kewaskum; five sisters-in-law, Ruth Arbogash of West Bend, Eileen (Reggie) Pierret of Elcho, Linda (Bernie) Kaehne of Kewaskum, Joanne Volm of Upland, California and Delores Weis of Richfield, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Richard was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Joyce Gorman; his brother, Sylvester Weis; two sisters, Irene (Roland) Beck and Loretta (Rudy) Heidmann; his grandson-in-law, Shane Daugherty; four brothers-in-law, William (Peggy) Volm Jr., Robert Volm, Alois Peters and Norman Arbogash and his mother and father-in-law, William Sr. and Agnes Volm.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard was held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2014, at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in West Bend. Father Nathan Reesman officiated and burial with military honor rites followed in Holy Angels Catholic Church Cemetery in West Bend.

Richard's family greeted relatives and friends at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.

The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Richard's arrangements.
