Richard A. "Dick" Blaeske

Richard A. “Dick” Blaeske, 85, of West Bend, passed away on December 30, 2023 at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.

Dick was born on August 20, 1938, in Milwaukee, the son of the late William and Erna (nee Nehrbass) Blaeske. He graduated from Custer High School in 1957 where he met his soon-to-be-wife, Joyce. Following High School Dick proudly served his country in the National Guard until January of 1963. On May 14, 1960, he was united in marriage to Joyce Hoide in Milwaukee. Following their marriage, they moved to West Bend where they owned and operated the Colonial Restaurant for many years. Joyce preceded Dick in death on September 23, 2009.

Dick was a longtime member of the Kettle Moraine Klassic Kar Klub, known for his restoration of classic cars and drove in many parades. He was an avid hunter and furthermore a sheepshead and 500 card player. He enjoyed many years of pheasant hunting in Iowa with his brother and friends.

Those Dick leaves behind to cherish his memory include his son, Brett Blaeske of Saukville; two sisters-in-law, Joan (Warren) DeSchmidt and Debora Vance; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; his son, Rick William Blaeske; his siblings, Betty (Andrew) Weiss, William (Marlene) Blaeske, and Robert Blaeske; and his sister-in-law, Judy Schmidt.

VISITATION: Dick’s family will greet relatives and friends at the Myrhum – Patten Funeral & Cremation Service, 1315 W. Washington Street, in West Bend, on Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.

SERVICE: A funeral service for Dick will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend.
