Robert A. Bartelt, 87, of Kewaskum, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Samaritan Health Center in West Bend.
He was born on October 2, 1924, in the town of Auburn, the son of the late Robert and Ida (Bartelt) Bartelt, and on April 27, 1946, he was united in marriage to Doris Mae Geidel at Immanuel United Church of Christ in West Bend. Doris preceded Robert in death on February 11, 1991.
Robert was a lifelong member of St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaskum where he was baptized and confirmed. He farmed in Fond du Lac County and was a carpenter and mason as well in years before he retired.
Robert enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Robert was an avid gardener, loved music and polka dancing. While a resident at the Samaritan Health Center, he played many games of sheepshead with fellow friends there. His lack of speech after his stroke never kept him from being a friend to many people. His smile will be missed by all of us.
Those Robert leaves behind with loving memories include two children, Barbara (Thomas) Knorr and Richard (Janice) Bartelt both from the town of Auburn; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, Kristine (Brian) Pyevich of Wausau and their children Lily and Lauren; Laura (Ronald) Buechler of West Bend and their daughter, Siera; Robert (Karla) Knorr of Cambridge and their children, Caden, Carter and Camden; Jeremy (Dani) Knorr of Kewaskum, Kelly (Sean) Durand of Slinger and their son, Logan; Ricky (Beth) Bartelt of Hartford and their children, Brooklyn and Jake; and Jason Bartelt of the town of Auburn and his children, Malachi and Macey; a sister, Eleanore Schultz of West Bend, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Robert was preceded in death by two sisters and their husbands, Bertha (Edwin) Paskey and Irene (Albert W.) Prost, and a niece, Sandra Buettner.
Funeral services for Robert were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at the Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum. Rev. Timothy Henning officiated and burial followed in Lutheran Memorial Park in Kewaskum.
Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
