Robert E. "Dabby" Dabringer

Robert E. “Dabby” Dabringer, 81, of Brownsville, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at the St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac.


He was born on March 24, 1930, in Barton, the son of the late Robert Joseph and Lillian (Wilger) Dabringer, and on February 18, 1950, he was united in marriage to Viola “Ola” Dekker. After their marriage, the couple made their home in Barton and in 1970 they moved to Brownsville. Viola preceded Robert in death on December 6, 2007.


Robert was a 1950 graduate of West Bend High School. He was employed by Wisconsin Electric for 35 years, first as a lineman and later as a troubleshooter. Robert was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union (IBEW) and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lomira.


For many years, Ola and Dabby spent time at Little Green Lake with family and friends, where they enjoyed fishing and a good game of cards, especially sheepshead and skat. Dabby enjoyed and did many woodworking projects.


Those Robert leaves behind to cherish his memory include three children, Jane (Mike) Seiler of Berlin, Judy (Gary) Kuen and Robert (Linda) Dabringer both of Brownsville; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth (Ken) Krebsbach of Fond du Lac, David (Mary) Seiler of Mayville, Peter Kuen of Lomira, Katie (Kyle) Hellmer of Fond du Lac, Andrew Kuen (special friend, Kelly) of Sparta, James Dabringer of Milwaukee, Daniel, Joseph and Jacob Dabringer all of Brownsville; two great-grandchildren, Leah and Brent Seiler of Mayville; a step-great-grandson, Nick Krebsbach; two brothers, Leroy (Roseanna) Dabringer of Phelps and Richard Dabringer of Germantown; a brother-in-law, David Merkt of St. Nazianz; two sisters-in-law, Corliss (George) Fassbender and Luella Dekker both of West Bend, other relatives and friends.


In addition to his wife and parents, Robert was preceded in death by a son, James M. Dabringer in 1983; a sister, Rosemary Merkt and a brother-in-law, Earl Dekker.


A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert was held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2012, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 699 Milwaukee Street in Lomira. Father Dennis Budka officiated and burial was at 10:00 a.m. on Monday in the parish cemetery.


Relatives and friends called at the church on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.


The Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home in Lomira was entrusted with Robert’s arrangements.
