Robert L. Filut, age 84, of West Bend, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at his home.
He was born on October 6, 1921 in Akron, OH to the late Frank and Martha (nee Badciong) Filut. His family later moved to Milwaukee. Bob served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WW II, and on August 25, 1945 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Plohr at Faith Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Together they lived and raised their family in the Cedarburg and Saukville areas until moving to West Bend in 1991. Bob worked as a carpenter and construction supervisor, lastly for J.J. Wenninger Company in Brookfield, until his retirement in 1979. Elizabeth preceded him in death in 1995.
He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in West Bend, and the West Bend Moose Lodge # 1398. He had been active at the Washington County Senior Center and enjoyed fishing, playing his keyboard, and gambling trips.
Bob is survived by his companion, Joan Fay; two daughters, Susan (Ed) Salowitz of Ann Arbor, MI, and Sandra (Thomas) Rappold of Belgium; three grandchildren, Amy (Wally) Wilsnack, Julie (Chris) Becker, and Steve (Kim) Harrington; three great-grandchildren, Joseph and Grace Wilsnack, and Christian Vandercook; four sisters, Marilyn (Jack) Kunkel, Delores Egan, Betty Jane Henderson, and Florence Jaeger; a sister-in-law Mildred MacDonald; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services to honor Bob's life will be held on Tuesday, December 27th at 7:00 pm at Immanuel United Church of Christ, West Bend (501 Walnut St.). Rev. James Eckblad will officiate. Visitation will be at the church only from 4:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will take place at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield.
