Obituary for Roberta Ann Herman
Bobbie Herman, age 83 years, passed peacefully to her heavenly home on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, in Lomira, WI. Mrs. Herman was a resident at Hope Health and Rehabilitation Center for just over one year.
Bobbie was born in Benton Harbor, MI on August 4, 1941. She was the only child of Leslie and Evelyn Heppler (Hennesy). As a child, Bobbie played the accordion and performed at the House of David talent show. Choir, bookkeeping, shorthand and stenography were among her favorite classes at Benton Harbor High School. She worked at Sanitary Cleaners until graduating in 1959.
In 1960, this newlywed joined her husband, Larry Dykema, in Germany where he was stationed, and she worked as a military secretary. Upon their return, she continued secretarial work at Whirlpool.
In 1966 the couple adopted their only child, Cheryl Lynn. Later, this new mother returned to work at Indian & Michigan Electric Company and Manpower.
On July 21, 1972, Roberta married Erv Herman and moved to Cedarburg, WI. They became avid Brewers fans as they moved a number of times around Wisconsin and Minnesota. In 1984, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Maintaining a positive attitude, she developed a love of Scrabble and was almost unbeatable. They lived in Jackson, WI for just under 30 years. Bobbie had a number of devoted care givers for many years including Helena, Mickey, Linda, Ann, and others. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2022.
The family would like to express our deep gratitude to Megan Macfarlane, Bobbie’s longtime social worker, as well as Hope Health and Rehabilitation Center of Lomira and Hospice for their loving care of Bobbie.
