Robert A. “Bob” Priest, 86, of Brownsville, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at St. Francis Nursing Home in Fond du Lac, with his family at his side.
He was born on August 13, 1928, the son of the late Herbert and Lorna (Gutzmer) Priest, and on May 9, 1953, he was united in marriage to Doraine (Weber) Priest at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brownsville.
Bob was noted for his fine woodworking. He was an avid Green Bay Packer Fan and attended the Ice Bowl in 1967. Bob was employed by John Deere where he worked for 39 years and retired in 1987. He enjoyed traveling, including many foreign countries, bowling, golf and fishing. He will be deeply missed by his wife, daughters and by all who knew him.
Bob was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church for 44 years serving as a secretary/treasurer and a trustee for many terms. In 1997 he moved to Little Green Lake and became a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Markesan. He served on the board for the Village of Brownsville for many years and also served on the Brownsville Community Club Board for 30 years. He was a member of the Brownsville Lions Club serving as past president. Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
Those Bob leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 61 years, Doraine; two daughters, Susan (Larry) Jasman and Peggy (Daniel) Henke both of Brownsville; two grandchildren, Brad (Rebecca) Jasman of Lomira and Kayla (Aaron) Simmons of Eau Claire; two great-grandsons, Reid and Rhett Simmons; a brother, James Priest (special friend, Janice Hass) of Oconomowoc, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by an aunt and uncle Albert and Viola Priest.
Funeral services for Bob will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2015 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Markesan with Rev. Jason Jobs officiating.
The Priest family will greet relatives and friends at the Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home in Lomira on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church in Markesan on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
