Roger W. Igel

Roger W. Igel, 78, of West Bend passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Froedtert Hospital in Menomonee Falls.

He was born on March 28, 1945, to the late Steve and Esther (nee Dexheimer) Igel in West Bend. Roger graduated from West Bend High School in 1963. On May 15, 1965, he was united in marriage to Joan Senkbeil at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend. He worked at the Gehl Company in West Bend for 16 years, then went on to work at Advanced Manufacturing Technologies in Grafton for 20 years until his retirement. Roger was a longtime member of the Newburg Fire Department and St. John Lutheran Church in Newburg, serving on the board of education and refereeing basketball games for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, spending time at Lake Arrowhead Campground in Montello, and putzing in his garage. Roger loved watching the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, Wisconsin Badgers, and NASCAR. He also had a love for John Deere tractors. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be missed by all who know him.

Those Roger leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 58 years, Joan; his son Jeffrey (Paula) Igel; his four grandchildren: Cassandra Igel, Jacob (Abby) Igel, Nikolas Igel, and Lillian Igel, and his first great-granddaughter on the way from Jacob and Abby; a brother-in-law, Richard Scott; good friend Craig Garbisch, and other relatives and friends.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Randall Igel.

VISITATION: The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, December 11, 2023, at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, 623 Congress Drive, Newburg from 10:30am until 11:45am.

SERVICE: A funeral service in remembrance of Roger will be at the church at 12:00 noon followed by lunch. Burial to follow at Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend.
