Roger J. Reindl

Roger J. Reindl, 86, of Kewaskum, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family.


He was born on January 25, 1924, in the town of Kewaskum, the son of the late George and Theresa (Schedlo) Reindl, and on June 7, 1947, he was united in marriage to Irma Monroe in Wautoma.


Roger proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II from 1943–1946 and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 Kewaskum and for many years was a participant with the military honor guard for fallen comrades.


Roger delivered oil for many years for Standard Oil and worked for Mallard Coach. His final working years were with Herriges Shell Station in Kewaskum and Bartoli’s Garden Market in rural Campbellsport.


Roger served on the Kewaskum Fire Department for 28 years, where he dedicated many weekends to ambulance duty. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum.


Roger will fondly be remembered for his sense of humor and his passion for fishing, hunting and gardening. He will be deeply missed by his wife, his family and by all who knew him.


Those Roger leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 62 years, Irma; four children, Jeanne (Larry) Coulter of Ridgway, Colorado, Marilyn (Karl) Brath of Campbellsport, Mark (Kay) Reindl of Lodi, California and Janet (Kevin) Kohlwey of Kewaskum; a brother, Allen Reindl of the town of Kewaskum; a sister, Linda Casper of West Bend, 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.


In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Mae; two brothers, Prosper and Gilbert (Anna) Reindl; a sister, Bernetta (Jacob) Bruessel; a sister-in-law, Louisanna “Sally” Reindl and two brothers-in-law, Norbert Becker and Lester Casper.


A funeral service for Roger was held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 331 Main Street in Kewaskum. Father Edwin Kornath officiated and burial, with military honor rites performed by members of the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 Kewaskum, followed the service in the parish cemetery.


Relatives and friends called at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Members of the Kewaskum Fire Department gathered at the church for an honorary walk through at 12:30 p.m. and members of the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 Kewaskum did an honorary walk through at 1:30 p.m.


In lieu of flowers, memorials were preferred.
