Roger J. Stoffel, 87, of Lomira, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at ManorCare in Fond du Lac with his family at his side.
He was born on February 18, 1927, in the town of Lomira, the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Rohlinger) Stoffel, and on June 23, 1948, he was united in marriage to Thelma Nellessen at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in LeRoy. Thelma and Roger shared 62 years of marriage before Thelma’s death on June 26, 2010.
Roger was employed by Regal Ware Inc. in Kewaskum, retiring at age 63 following many years of service and was a member of the 25-Year Club. He served as the Fire Chief of the Lomira Fire Department, was a police officer for over a decade, was a Lomira Village Board member and served in the civil defense. Roger was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lomira where he served as a lector and Eucharistic minister. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was a loyal Green Bay Packer season ticket holder and enjoyed traveling on bus trips.
Those Roger leaves behind to cherish his memory include three children, Tom (Judy) Stoffel of Menasha, Gary Stoffel (special friend, Karrie) of Fond du Lac and Mary Beth Stoffel (fiance, Edwin Boyung) of West Bend; three grandchildren, Dr. Ryan (Brandy) Stoffel, Nicole (Brad) Brooks and Becky (Rob) Sepnafski; five great-grandchildren, Colby and Hunter Sepnafski, Kaylie Ash, Wrenly and Harper Stoffel, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Roger was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Moria Stoffel.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Roger was held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lomira. Father Michael Petersen officiated and burial followed in the parish cemetery.
The Stoffel family greeted relatives and friends at the church on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.
The Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home in Lomira was entrusted with Roger's arrangements.
