Roman A. Hartmann

June 4, 1915 — August 16, 2009

Roman A. Hartmann, 94, of Allenton, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2009, at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend.

He was born in 1915, in Nenno, the son of the late Emil and Catherine (Schellinger) Hartmann, and on June 12, 1943, he was united in marriage to Florence Westerman at St. Bridget Catholic Church in the town of Wayne. Florence preceded Roman in death on April 10, 2004.


Roman was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church, Allenton, and was a volunteer at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend. He was a lifelong farmer until his retirement. Roman led a healthy and safe life. He will fondly be remembered as a faithful man – in his family, his church and in his work of farming with his brother, Edmund.


Those Roman leaves behind to cherish his memories include a daughter, Rosalie Hartmann of Plymouth; three sisters-in-law, Anita Hartmann, Lilly Westerman, and Beulah Beisbier all of West Bend; two brothers-in-law, Joseph (Bea) Mueller of Campbellsport, and Cyril Westerman of West Bend, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


In addition to his wife and parents, Roman was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jeanne; a son-in-law, Bill Wolff; two brothers, Edmund and Norbert (Esther) Hartmann; two sisters, Arlene Mueller and Priscilla Westerman; two brothers-in-law, Harold Westerman and Byron Beisbier.


A Mass of Christian Burial for Roman was held at noon on Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at Resurrection Catholic Church, 632 Church Street in Allenton. Father Richard Stoffel officiated and burial followed in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Nenno.


Relatives and friends called at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.


In lieu of flowers/plants, memorials to the American Heart Association or Catholic Relief Services are appreciated.


Roman’s family extends their heartfelt appreciation to family, friends, Melissa of VNA Hospice and the staff of the Samaritan Health Center for the compassionate care provided to Roman.
