Romona A. Kallmyer

March 18, 1920 — May 22, 2012

Romona A. Kallmyer, 92, of Kewaskum, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Kettle Moraine Gardens in Kewaskum.


She was born on March 18, 1920, in St. Cloud, the daughter of the late Henry and Theresa (Meim) Abler, and on November 17, 1945, she was united in marriage to Harold Kallmyer at Christ of St. Francis Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Harold preceded Romona in death on January 9, 1996.


Romona was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum and was active in St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Waupaca where she was on the funeral and lunch committees, rummage sales and cleaning of the church.


She will fondly be remembered for crocheting afghans. Romona was a loving mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family and by all who knew her.


Those Romona leaves behind to cherish her memory include two children, John (Diane) Kallmyer of Kewaskum and Theresa Koelsch of Coloma; a sister, Helma Betchner of Waupaca; a sister-in-law, Jean Abler of Greendale; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.


In addition to her husband and parents, Romona was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Larry Koelsch; two brothers, Roger and David Abler; two sisters, Jean (Herman) Feldner and Margaret (LeRoy) Tenwinkel and a brother-in-law, Peter Betchner.


A Memorial Mass for Romona was held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. Father Edwin Kornath officiated and burial of her cremains will be next to her husband in Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King.


Romona’s family received relatives and friends at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.


The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Romona’s arrangements.
