Rose E. Holz

July 15, 1920 — October 6, 2013

Rose E. Holz (nee Gonring), age 93, of Big Cedar Lake, was called home to Heaven on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend.

She was born at Gonring's Resort on Big Cedar Lake on July 15, 1920 to the late Jac and Mary (nee Weber) Gonring. Rose spent her childhood at the resort her parents owned and operated and later attended high school at St. Mary's Academy in Milwaukee. On May 8, 1940, Rose was united in marriage to Clarence Holz at St. Matthias Catholic Church in Nabob.

Family was Rose's primary focus in life and she cherished her roll as a wife and mother. Rose loved her grandchildren and enjoyed taking care of them as they grew up. She also enjoyed fishing, spending time up north, and playing cards, especially Sheepshead in which she excelled. Rose always had a smile and hello for anyone she met and loved to visit with friends and family. Her faith and positive attitude were an inspiration to all who knew her.

Rose is survived by her two daughters, Judy Wolf of West Bend and Gloria Holz of Big Cedar Lake; three grandchildren, Kathleen (David) Moen of Campbellsport, Joseph Wolf of Campbellsport, and Robert (Kim) Wolf of California; 13 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. She is further survived by her three sisters, Alice Lass of Batavia, IL, Jean Grant of Racine, and Evelyn Klug of West Bend; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Jac and Mary; her husband, Clarence; her granddaughter, Suzanne Belinski; and her brother Walter Gonring.

A graveside service will be held at St. Matthias Catholic Cemetery in Nabob at 2:00pm on Thursday, October 10, 2013.

Memorials to the family would be greatly appreciated.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Samaritan Health Center and Season's Hospice for the compassion and care that was given to Rose.
