Rose Marie Rusch, 80, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home in Fond du Lac with her family by her side.
She was born on December 15, 1928, in Byron Township, the daughter of the late Guy and Loretta (Franke) Sampson, and she attended grade school in South Byron and St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Brownsville. Rose Marie was a student of Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac and a 1946 graduate of Lomira High School. On August 28, 1948, she was united in marriage to Rolland E. Rusch at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Brownsville. Her husband preceded her in death on February 18, 1976.
Rose Marie was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac and the Ladies of Faith Auxiliary, and a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid in Brownsville. She was a member for over 50 years of the Bintzler-Waehler American Legion Post Auxiliary 347 Lomira and was past president of the auxiliary. Rose Marie was also a member of the Ladies Volunteers Auxiliary of Brownsville Community Club and of the Eagle’s Club Auxiliary 270 in Fond du Lac.
During her years of employment, Rose Marie worked in restaurants and for Community Alternatives several years providing home care. She was an Avon Sales Representative for many years and received recognition for 50 years of service.
Rose Marie cherished her family and grandchildren and spending time with them. She also enjoyed her work, playing cards, golfing, traveling and good times with friends. She will be deeply missed by her family and by all who knew her.
Those Rose Marie leaves behind to cherish her memory include three children, Gerald (Jane) Rusch of Fond du Lac, Gene (Ruth) Rusch of Brownsville and Christy (Steven) Warner of Eldorado; two grandchildren, Nicholas Rusch and Ashley Rusch; a brother, Donald (Ferne) Sampson of South Byron; a sister-in-law, Eunice Sampson of Fond du Lac, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Rose Marie was preceded in death by a brother, Arlin Sampson; a brother-in-law, Glenn Rusch; a sister-in-law, Therese Sampson and an infant granddaughter, Heather.
Funeral services for Rose Marie were held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2009, at Faith Lutheran Church, 55 Prairie Road in Fond du Lac. Pastor David Haugly officiated and burial was at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Brownsville.
Relatives and friends called at the church on Friday from 3:30 p.m. until the time of services.
