Roy W. Meyer, age 104 of Lomira, was peacefully called to eternal life on February 14, 2022 at his home.
He was born September 9, 1917 in Lomira the son of Charles F. Meyer and Christina (Voight) Meyer. He attended the Lomira Public Schools and graduated from Lomira High School in 1935.
On April 24, 1948 he married Elaine D. Krueger of Fond du Lac at the Church of Peace in Fond du Lac. Roy was a lifelong resident of Lomira.
Roy was employed by Ulrich Auto Sales, Voight Fur Farms, and the Lomira School District. He served in the United States Navy from August 18, 1942 through March 6, 1946. He was a Higgins boat operator on LST 318 in the Sicily area. On May 2, 2010 he had the joy of traveling with The Stars and Stripes Honor Flight to see the World War II Monument in Washington DC.
Roy was an avid sports fan enjoying hunting and fishing when he was younger. In his later years he enjoyed watching sports on TV especially the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers, and UW Badgers Basketball and Football.
Roy and his wife enjoyed traveling and attending musical events at various venues around the country. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving him are his two sons Gerald (Cheryl) of Brownsville and Ronald (Mary) of Plymouth. His six grandchildren, Brian Meyer; Tracy (Tristan) Kysely and their son Henry; Robert Meyer and his daughter Ellie Mae; Laura (Stephen) Grismore and their children Emily, Andrew, Julia, Isaac, Jacob, and Madelyn; Nathaniel (April) Meyer and their children Ella, Aria, and Elise; and Daniel (Stacey) Meyer and their children Chloe, Owen, Jack, and Allie.
Roy is further survived by sister-in-law, Paulette Kornmann; and nephews, Bill (Sharon) Goehring, Mike Kornmann, Mark (Karen) Kornmann, and Robert Krueger.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine; parents, Charles and Christina Meyer; brother, Earl Meyer; granddaughter, Sarah Meyer; grandson, Eric Meyer; sisters, Cecelia (Ben) Goehring, Minnie Meyer, Dorothy Meyer; brothers-in-laws, Doug (Pat) Krueger and Robert Kornmann, and nieces, Joan (Patrick) Overcast and Debra Krueger.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 3:00 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church (300 Church Street – Lomira, WI 53048) with Pastor Mulongo Mpoyo officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday at Church from 1:30 pm until the time of service.
Inurnment will be at Salem Cemetery in Lomira at a later date.
