Ruby A. Ostrander, nee Ernst, age 81, of the town of Barton, was called home to her Lord on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at Ivy Manor in Campbellsport.
She was born on November 24, 1924 in the town of Union, Wisconsin, to the late Edward and Matilda (nee Miller) Ernst. She was united in marriage to Alvah Ostrander on May 30, 1948 at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Symco, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on February 24, 1995.
Ruby worked as a packer for Amity Leather in addition to being a full-time homemaker taking care of her husband and two children.
She was raised in the Lutheran faith and became a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1951.
Ruby cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she loved spending time with them and always looked forward to seeing them. She was affectionately known as the gray haired grandma. Ruby's smile was enough to cheer anyone up; she was always happy and always had a positive attitude.
She is survived by her two children, Cheryl Herman of Manitowoc, and Marvin (Mary) Ostrander of Campbellsport; six grandchildren, Andrew and Rachel Ostrander, Sarah (Christopher) Berres, Rebecca (Michael) Schickert, and Crystal and Dion Raybern; three great-grandchildren Joseph Richard Schickert, Danica Jennifer Schickert, and Wyatt Christopher Berres; a sister, Marie Peterson; a sister-in-law, Bertha Ernst; and special friends, Kenneth Matous and Jean Schmidt.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Ernst; and five sisters, Norma Ernst, Erna Moak, Emma Groth, Anna Wisnefske, and Nora Schoenrock.
A funeral service in honor of Ruby will be held on Friday, May 19, at 7:00 pm at Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service in West Bend. Rev. George Mumm of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Visitation with the family will be at the funeral home on Firday from 4:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will take place on Saturday, May 20, at 10:20 am in Newark Cemetery in the town of Barton.
