Ruth C. Schiller, nee Hoffmann, age 84, of West Bend, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend.
She was born on November 8, 1925 in Thiensville to the late Alois and Emily (nee Boesch) Hoffmann. Ruth was united in marriage to Orville Schiller who preceded her in death on February 10, 2008. She worked in the office of Jung-Gruenwald Furniture and Appliance in Cedarburg for many years; prior to that she worked in the office of P.A. Mueller & Sons in Hartford. In her free time she enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, taking care of her family and baking apple pies. Ruth and Orville resided in St. Lawrence for many years, where Ruth had beautiful flower gardens.
She is survived by her daughter, Penny Schiller and her husband Bill Simpson; three step-grandchildren, Amanda Simpson, Matthew Simpson, and Jennifer (Derek) Erlenborn; three step-great-grandchildren, Aidan, Ryan, and William; a brother, Ray (Marilyn) Hoffmann; a sister-in-law, Gloria Hoffmann; three brothers-in-law, Ralph Chapman, Shirl Wilken; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Orville; her son, Dennis; two brothers, Robert (Katie) Hoffman, and Lee Hoffmann; two sisters, Elsie (Andrew) Guttmann, and Mary Chapman; a brother-in-law Vern Schiller; and a sister-in-law, Bea Wilken.
In accordance with Ruth's wishes, no services will be held. Memorials to the Washington County Humane Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff of The Fields of Washington County, who were like a second family to Ruth, and who became her dear friends. Thanks also to all the other caregivers and medical staff who were so kind to Ruth and her family in the last few years.
