Sally J. Kirmse, nee Olson, 82, of Newburg, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Harvest Home in West Bend.
She was born on March 18, 1932 in Milwaukee to the late Edwin and Zelma (nee Keeler) Olson. She was united in marriage to Raymond Kirmse on May 26, 1956 in Fredonia. Raymond passed away February 10, 2010.
Prior to marriage, Sally worked at the Wisconsin Gas Company for several years. After raising her children, Sally went back to work at various retail jobs. In 1986, she became the owner and operator of Hwy. 33 Video which she operated until 1997.
Sally served as a Village of Newburg Trustee for several years. She helped establish and volunteered at the Lorraine Hartman Literary & Historical Society in Newburg. She enjoyed traveling, taking car trips throughout the Midwest, and vacations to Hawaii and Europe. She also enjoyed going to casinos to play Bingo and slot machines.
She is survived by four children, Lance Kirmse, Kelly Kastner, Jodie Kirmse, and Robert Kirmse; four grandchildren, Amber (Ross) Hoff, Mollyjo Johnson, Jake Kastner, and Luke Kastner; a great-grandson, Brent Hoff; a sister, Pam Soderlund; a brother, Stan (Jackie) Olson; three sisters-in-law, Jenny Kurtz, Marilou (Clyde) Gerner, and Suzie Kirmse; five brothers-in-law, Eugene (Marilyn) Kirmse, Robert (Loretta) Kirmse, Jack (Carol) Kirmse, Merlin Wilkens, and Don Race, Sr.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; four sisters-in-law, Ethel (Joe) Herriges, Winnie Race, Blanch (Wally) Batterman, and Myrtle Wilkens; and three brothers-in-law, Orville Kirmse, Clarence Kurtz, and Dave Soderlund.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 29 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Newburg. Rev. Kurt Schaser will officiate and burial will follow in St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated.
