Salvatore Farina, Jr.

April 21, 1930 — October 3, 2015

Salvatore Farina Jr., age 85, of Milwaukee, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at the Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon.

He was born on April 21, 1930 in Milwaukee to the late Salvatore and Antonina (nee Napoli) Farina Sr.  As a child he attended St. Rose Catholic Church where he served as an altar boy.  He was a member of the Catholic Youth Organization and enjoyed playing football for St. Rose Catholic School.

On August 9, 1952 he was united in marriage to Barbara Trazer at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Milwaukee.  As a young man, Salvatore was employed by the Milwaukee Road and later became the co-owner Casper Trazer and Company which he was proud to have retired from at the age of 39.

Salvatore was the glue that held his family together.  He loved cooking, hunting, playing slot machines and cards, especially Black Jack.  He also enjoyed attending horse races and dog races.  He was a generous man donating money to Children’s Hospital to help children with cancer.  His generosity also lead him to become a member of the Merrill Park Organization which helped raise money for Froedtert Hospital.

Those that Salvatore leave behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Barbara; his two children, Cheri Metzger and Jeffrey R. (Toni Marie) Farina Sr.; eight grandchildren, David Andrew (Deidré) Metzger Sr., Deborah (Andrew) Metzger-Hadler, Dominic C. Farina, Kristina Marie Farina, Salvatore (Brittney) Farina, Jeffrey R. (fiancée Jamie Richardson) Farina Jr., Daniel Herber, and Anna Marie (fiancée Austin J. Zillmer) Farina; eleven great-grandchildren, David Andrew Metzger Jr., Dainen Alexander Metzger, Dashton Dean Metzger, Anthony Michael Farina, Faith Ann Farina, Hailey Mae Farina, Isabella Rae Farina, Braden Scott Farina, Vincent Cruz Farina, Austin J. Farina-Zillmer Jr., and Luca Cross Farina; a sister, Rose Gregg; and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Salvatore was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Lee Farina; his son-in-law, Andrew Metzger; his great-grandson, Carmine Farina; his parents-in-law, Casper and Barbara Trazer; three sisters, Grace Torcivia, Rosalie Tomasello, and Gloria Perick; and three brothers, Michael Farina, Santo Farina, and Joseph Farina.

In honor of Salvatore’s wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date.
