Sunday, October 6, 2013, the Lord called Sandra L. Roebke of Lomira to her heavenly home.
She was born on August 2, 1945, in Green Bay, the daughter of the late Herbert and Alma (Giese) Roebke. Her parents brought her to be baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wrightstown.
Sandra attended public school from grades 1-5 and St. John’s Lutheran School for grades 6-8, where she was also confirmed in the Christian faith. She was a 1963 graduate of Fox Valley Lutheran High School in Appleton and enrolled at Wisconsin Lutheran Teacher’s College in Milwaukee to prepare for Christian teaching. Sandra went on to complete her studies at Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota. Following graduation, she was assigned to St. John’s Lutheran School in Lomira where she taught for 39 years. During that time she taught different combinations of grades one through five and also served as a supervising teacher for eleven student teachers. Sandra also served on a Synod education committee as well as holding several positions on teacher conference committees. Sandra was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lomira.
Sandra loved to travel in the United States visiting many of the states. She loved history, science and enjoyed being with family, friends, fishing and playing all kinds of cards, especially rummy.
Those Sandra leaves behind to cherish her memory include a brother, William Roebke of Crivitz; two nephews, Christopher and Scott (Darlene) Roebke both of Wrightstown; a great-nephew, Ryan Roebke of Wrightstown; two great-great-nephews, Owen Roebke of Wrightstown and Brantley Schneider of Hilbert; a niece, Karmen (Randy) Lemke of Kaukauna; five great-nieces, Amanda Roebke of Wrightstown, Kimberly (Brandon) Schneider of Hilbert, Lauren, Lindsay and Leah Lemke all of Kaukauna; a family friend, Kathleen Roebke of Wrightstown, other relatives and many special friends.
In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Roebke.
The Christian funeral service for Sandra was held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2013, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lomira. Rev. Dan Schmidt officiated and burial was in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Wrightstown where she was laid to rest next to her parents and sister.
Relatives and friends called at the church on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services.
The Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home in Lomira was entrusted with Sandra’s arrangements.
