Sarah A. Schmitt

April 16, 1990 — September 12, 2010

Sarah A. Schmitt, 20, of Allenton, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2010, from injuries received in an automobile accident in Columbia County.


She was born on April 16, 1990, in Brookfield, the daughter of Steven and Susan (Desrosier) Schmitt. Sarah was a 2008 graduate of Kewaskum High School and was a junior at U.W. Eau Claire pursuing math and computer science degrees. She was a member of the Women’s Rugby team, a sport she thoroughly enjoyed, and Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum.


In her younger years, she was an active member of 4-H and showed rabbits and sheep at the fair. In high school, she was a member of the tennis team and held the position of treasurer of the FFA during her senior year. She will be deeply missed by her family and by all who knew her and were touched by her life.


Those Sarah leaves behind to cherish her memory include her parents, Steve and Sue Schmitt of Allenton; three sisters, Jillian Schmitt of River Falls, Heather Schmitt and Robin Schmitt both at home; her maternal grandmother, Mary Lou Desrosier of West Bend; her paternal grandparents, Alfred “Fritz” and Rita Schmitt of West Bend; her aunts and uncles, Cindy Hassett and Patti Desrosier both of Cedarburg, Sandy Desrosier of Grafton, Jan Wilkens of Fredonia, Alan (Annette) Schmitt, Thomas (Regina) Schmitt, Kevin (Jane) Schmitt and Brian (Debbie) Schmitt all of West Bend, many cousins, other relatives, classmates and dear friends.


Sarah was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Gerald Dave Desrosier.


A Mass of Christian Burial for Sarah was held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2010, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 331 Main Street in Kewaskum. Father Edwin Kornath and Father Elroy Pesch O.F. M. Cap officiated and burial followed in the parish cemetery.


Relatives and friends called at the church on Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., where a prayer service was held at 7:00 p.m., and visitation continued on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
