Schirley E. Fellenz

Schirley E. Fellenz, 88, of Kewaskum, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk with her family at her side.


She was born on August 27, 1923, in Kewaskum, the daughter of the late Arthur and Elizabeth (Bastian) Manthei, and on September 1, 1945, she was united in marriage to Leander Fellenz at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Michaels. Leander preceded Schirley in death on May 30, 1970.


Schirley was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum. She enjoyed dancing with her husband, children and grandchildren, playing cards, and crossword puzzles. She will be deeply missed by her family and by all who knew her.


Those Schirley leaves behind to cherish her memory include her four daughters, Karen Fellenz of Kewaskum, Kathe (Tom) Streveler of Campbellsport, Jocelyn Bruckert of Pearson and Tracine (Bruce) Boettcher of Kewaskum; three sisters, Eunice Yeadeke of Mayville, Ruth (Ronald) Tacke of Brown Deer and Deanna Manthei (Gene Chapman) of Milwaukee; three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Manthei of the town of Auburn, Anna Manthei of Kewaskum and Marcy Okun of Seattle, Washington; seven grandchildren Jason (Veronica) Streveler, Amy Streveler, Nick Streveler, Kristen (Kevin) Drewry, April Bruckert, Jamie (Doug) Brenner and Bree Boettcher, six great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.


In addition to her husband and parents, Schirley was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Robert Bruckert; six brothers, Harold “Muggs” Manthei, Willard “Squinty” Manthei, Lyle (Beatrice) Manthei, Earl Manthei, and her young brothers, Edward and Arthur Manthei; two sisters, Dorothy (Edwin) Stahnke and her young sister, Harriet Manthei; a brother-in-law, Emil Yeadeke and her godson, Jimmy Manthei.


Funeral services for Schirley will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Peace United Church of Christ, 343 First Street in Kewaskum. Rev. Eric Kirkegaard will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.


Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services.


The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum has been entrusted with Schirley’s arrangements.
