Scott A. Matenaer

July 3, 1961 — September 22, 2010

Scott A. Matenaer, 49, of West Bend, was born into eternal life on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at the Kathy Hospice, West Bend.

He came into the world on July 3, 1961 in West Bend, the son of Jerry and Janine (nee Schnepf) Matenaer. He attended Kewaskum High School, graduating in 1979. He worked as a salesman at the Bob Fish car dealership where he met his wife to be, Kay Bohn. They were married on June 1, 1991 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend.

Later they moved to Greeley, Colorado where Scott worked at his father's company, Desert Harvestore. Then they moved to Arizona and Scott bought his father's company, Aquastore Southwest. After 19 A½ years in Arizona, Scott sold the business, retired and moved back to West Bend with his family in July 2009.

A month and a half after returning to West Bend, Scott was diagnosed with lung/liver cancer. Even though the prognosis only gave him a very short time, Scott battled the cancer for 13 months without ever complaining. He lived each day to its fullest and fought until the very end. We are so glad we had him here with us for the last year!

Scott loved his "toys" (anything with an engine), but his greatest love was his wife and daughters.

Scott is survived by his wife, Kay; his three beautiful daughters, Tayler, Lauren, and Madisen "Maddie"; his mother, Janine Matenaer of West Bend; a brother, Mark (friend Mary) Matenaer of West Bend; three sisters, Linda Carini of Franklin, Lisa (Tom) Breitrick of Milwaukee, and Melissa Matenaer of Milwaukee; his parents-in-law, Don and Joanne Bohn of Arizona; a brother-in-law, Jon (Sue) Bohn of Jackson; a sister-in-law, Ann (Jess) Gatlin of Alexandria, VA; five nephews, Eric Matenaer, Troy Matenaer, Ryan Matenaer, Sam Breitrick, and Matthew Breitrick; three nieces, Kylie Breitrick, Rachel Bohn, and Hannah Bohn; many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Matenaer, and his grandparents, Joe and Florence Matenaer and Walter and Ella Schnepf.

Funeral services in remembrance of Scott will be held on Tuesday, September 28 at 7:00 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St., West Bend. Rev. Guy Gurath will officiate and burial will be in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend, on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services.

Scott's family wish to thank everyone at the Kathy Hospice who took such wonderful care of him.

Memorials in Scott's name to the Kathy Hospice are appreciated.

We are all happy that his struggle is over, and he is with his loved ones in Heaven.
