Scott Nielsen

Scott Nielsen passed away on October 29, 2024 in Menomonee Falls surrounded by his family.

Scott, otherwise known as “Scooter” or “Captain Scotty”, was born 63 years ago on September 25, 1961 in Milwaukee. He was raised in the greater Milwaukee area and attended Wauwatosa East High School. Scott migrated to Germantown and started his own business, Cabinets Made EZ.

He possessed a natural talent and love of woodworking, which served him well over his lifetime. Scott was also a “gearhead”, described as a “racecar driver without being professional” (and oh boy, was he an adrenaline junkie). We’re pretty sure his inspiration was NASCAR, especially his favorite driver Bill Elliott. He was a proud owner of a very rare 1986 Buick Regal T-Type (no, not a Grand National!), as well as a Corvette and a Mustang, and had fond memories of racing at the Union Grove track – or street racing. Along with woodworking, Scott also enjoyed restoring cars.

Though he loved being on land in his Regal T-Type, Scott also had a passion for being out on Lake Michigan in his boat. He had a slip at the Port Washington Marina and could be easily located there every weekend in summer. Even if not out on the water, Scott simply enjoyed the “yacht life”.

Scott was the loving father of four children, Heather Nielsen, Amanda Nielsen, Corey Nielsen, and Brittani (Nathan) Baas. He was the grandfather of Kayden Rose, Levi Medley, Elijah Dobberphul, Olivia Dobberphul, and step-grandfather to Phoenix Baas. Further survived by his life partner Mary Luening, and mother of his children Brenda Nielsen. Scott’s brother and best friend Kevin (Kathy) Nielsen remember him fondly, as well as sisters Michelle and Cheryl, and two additional siblings. Scott was a great friend whom many will remember.

His life will be celebrated on Sunday, November 24, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
