Shirley J. Larsen, (nee Reuter), age 67, of West Bend, passed away Sunday April 6, 2008 at Kathy Hospice, West Bend.

She was born on July 5, 1940 in Lancaster to LaVerne and Frances (nee Sherwin) Reuter. At an early age she moved with her family to the Sherwin farm near Platteville. Shirley graduated from Platteville High School in the class of 1958. She then attended UW-Platteville and graduated with a degree in elementary education in 1962.

Shirley taught in Cudahy for five years and then for the Kewaskum School District for 20 years until retiring in 1987. During that time Shirley kept expanding her education by attending Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee.

Shirley was united in marriage to Richard Mayo in 1964. In 1991 she was united in marriage to Thomas Larsen at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. He preceded her in death in December of 2007.

She was a member of St Mary's Immaculate Conception Parish, West Bend. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Shirley enjoyed golfing at Hon-E-Kor Golf Course in Kewaskum.

She is survived by two sons, Chris Mayo of Waupun, and Mark (Lisa) Mayo of Orange City, FL; three step-children, Craig (Janet Mundt) Larsen of West Bend, Brian (Robin) Larsen of Sheboygan, and Linda Larsen of West Bend; a granddaughter, Clarissa Mayo of Waupun; three step-grandchildren, Ryan, Kendra, and Brittany Larsen; a step-great-granddaughter, Adrianna Larsen; Her mother, Frances Reuter of Platteville; a sister, Kay Maisa of Port St. Lucie, FL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, LaVerne Reuter; a son, Curtis Mayo; a sister, Sheryl Ingersoll, and a brother Thomas Reuter.

A Mass of Christian Burial in remembrance of Shirley will be held on Wednesday April 9th at 6:00 pm at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Parish, West Bend. Rev. Michael Moran will be the celebrant. Visitation will be Wednesday at the church only from 4:00 pm until the time of Mass. A Mass of Christian Burial will also be held on Saturday April 12th at 12:00 (noon) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Platteville. Msgr. Charles Schluter will be the celebrant and burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Platteville. Visitation in Platteville will be at the church from 10:00 until the time of Mass. Memorials to the Leukemia Society are appreciated (200 South Executive Dr., # 203 Brookfield, WI 53002). Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral & Cremation Service , West Bend, is assisting the family.
