Shirley M. Schnitzler, 86, of Grafton, formerly of Lomira entered eternal life on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the Aurora Medical Center in Grafton. She was born on June 3, 1932 in Hartford, the daughter of the late Joseph and Loretta Aufdermauer (nee Digmann) and on June 14, 1952, she was united in marriage to Henry Schnitzler at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Woodland. Henry and Shirley were lifelong farmers in the Theresa area. They were members of St. Theresa’s and St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and enjoyed traveling, gardening, crafting, and square dancing.
Shirley will be remembered by her three children, Judy (Mark) Holl of Juneau, John (Jeanie) Schnitzler of Theresa and Henry Schnitzler Jr. of Grafton; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother, Fr. Joe Aufdermauer of New Berlin; two brothers-in-law, Andrew Schnitzler of Beaver Dam and Joseph Schnitzler of Theresa; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, of 62 years; her brother, Claude (Mary Jane) Aufdermauer; three sisters-in-law, Marion, Jean, and Henrietta Schnitzler; and a brother-in-law, Martin (Annie) Schnitzler.
Memorial Mass for Shirley will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lomira on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 12:00 pm. Fr. Joe Aufdermauer will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date at St. Theresa Catholic Church Cemetery in Theresa.
Shirley’s family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, family has requested donations to Lomira Library, or charity of choice.
