Shirley M. Shoppach

Shirley Mae Shoppach (nee Opgenorth), age 80, of West Bend, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2013 at St. Joseph's Hospital in the town of Polk.

She was born on June 22, 1933 in Sheboygan to the late George and Hilda (nee Reichardt) Opgenorth. Shirley graduated from Oostburg High School and later attended Sheboygan County Normal School. She taught grade school in rural areas for three and a half years. She married Nicholas Shoppach on June 23, 1956. Shirley was a member of Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church in West Bend. She found joy playing games with grandchildren and friends, cooking and baking for her family, and singing and playing the piano.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Nicholas of West Bend; five children and 11 grandchildren, Pennie (Jim) Brzezinski and sons Adam Foltz, Mark and Jack Brzezinski of Pewaukee, Mary (Colin) Robertson of Longview, WA, Ivan (Justine) Shoppach and daughters Nicole, Megan, and Lauren of West Bend, Stuart Shoppach (fiancAC. Andrea Zepnick) and son Matthew of New Fane, and Steven (Heather) Shoppach and children Anika, Ian, Julia, and Kelsey of Waukesha; two sisters, Lois (Denis) Schmideler of Sheboygan and Gerry (Pat) McFarland of Minocqua; three brothers, Larry (Gloria) Opgenorth of Oostburg, Wayne (Laverne) Opgenorth of Oostburg, and Lloyd (Lin) Opgenorth of Traverse City, MI; three sisters-in-law, Virginia (Norbert) Schreiber of Sheboygan, Joyce Opgenorth of Denver, CO, and Carolyn Parshall of Overland Park, KS; two brothers-in-law, Roger (Martha) Jensema of Sheboygan Falls and Thomas Shoppach of El Paso, TX; and many other close relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Gloria (Donald) DeBlaey and Diane Jensema; three brothers, Gerhardt, Conrad, and Ralph Opgenorth; a sister-in-law, Marge Shoppach; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Parshall.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
