Steven F. Survis, age 66, of Newburg, passed away peacefully after a short illness surrounded by his loving family on Monday July 28, 2014 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.
He was born on September 12, 1947 in West Bend to Forest and Ruth (nee Bandle) Survis. He graduated from Kewaskum High School in the class of 1965, and Served honorably in the U.S. Air Force, serving in Vietnam. On September 21, 1984 Steve was united in marriage to Mary George at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend.
Steve worked at the West Bend Company for over 30 years and then worked for Packaging Corp. of America (PCA) in Milwaukee for 8 years until his retirement.
Steve was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, and the Fred A. Schaefer V.F.W. West Bend Post # 1393. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, and was an avid reader. Spending time with his family was important to Steve and he loved being a grandpa.
He is survived by his best friend and wife, Mary; three children, Heather (Steve) Hammond of Sheboygan Falls, Heidi Survis of West Bend, and Jason (Crystal) Survis of West Bend; eight grandchildren, Madeleine & Grace Hammond, Zachary & Cossettlynn Survis, Leah, Victoria, Haley, & Emma Survis; his mother, Ruth Survis of West Bend; three sisters, Shelia (Frank) Bauer of West Bend, Susan (Wayne) Kleinmann of Appleton, and Alice (Andy) Breit Jr. of Random Lake; three brothers, Daniel (Judy) Survis of Kewaskum, Michael (Sandy) Survis of West Bend, and Bruce (Judy) Survis of West Bend; a sister-in-law, Nancy (Randy) Thomas of Arcadia; two brothers-in-law, David (Ann) George of Arcadia, and Robert (Pauline) George of La Crosse; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Forest; an infant daughter, Amy Survis, and a brother, Gene Survis.
Memorial services in remembrance of Steve will be held on Thursday July 31st at 6:00 pm at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church (809 S. 6th Ave.) West Bend. Pastor David Kellerman will officiate. Visitation will be at the church Thursday from 4:00 pm until the time of service. Inurnment with military honors will be in Newark Cemetery on Friday at 10:00 am.
