Steven C. Rahn

June 28, 1918 — August 22, 2014

Steven C. Rahn, 96, of the town of Auburn, was united with his wife of 73 years, on Friday, August 22, 2014, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac surrounded by his family.

He was born on June 28, 1918 in the town of Auburn, the son of the late William and Mary (Tonn) Rahn and on April 27, 1940, he was united in marriage to Mary Brath at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Ashford. The couple farmed near Campbellsport and Steve was employed by Regal Ware and the West Bend Company in West Bend. Mary preceded Steve in death on September 24, 2013.

Steve and Mary owned Steve and Mary's Bar in Kewaskum and later built the Amerahn Bar and Hall in Kewaskum with their daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Allen Amerling.  The hall was a popular and favorite gathering place for many.

Steve and Mary traveled extensively throughout the United States, including Alaska, in their travel trailer. They also took their trailer through Canada, Mexico, Guatemala and the Baja. Steve hunted big game in British Columbia, Ontario, Idaho and Wyoming.

Steve was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. He enjoyed playing sheepshead, dancing, fishing and loved being with people. Steve will be deeply missed by his family and by all who knew him.

Those Steve leaves behind to cherish his memory include two daughters, Judy (Ray) Schrauth of Campbellsport and Judy and Ray's children, Bonnie (Dave) Kristan of Waunakee, Don (LuAnn) Schrauth of Lewistown, Montana and Beth (Tim) Pautsch of Fond du Lac; Jeanne (Allen) Amerling of Kewaskum and Jeanne and Allen's children, Scott (Tracy) Amerling of Kewaskum, Stephanie (John) Beisbier of Campbellsport, Cammie (Scott) Rosenthal and Craig (Mandy) Amerling both of Kewaskum; 16 great-grandchildren, Abe (Laura), Andy (Nikki) and Jessie McCarty, Nick (Emily) and Jon Gellings, Amanda and Heather Schrauth, Zach and Abby Amerling, Morgan, Evan and Sarah Beisbier, McKenzie and Sydney Rosenthal, Mason and Reid Amerling; two great-great-grandsons, Nolan and William McCarty; a sister-in-law, Georgianna Brath of Campbellsport, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Steve was preceded in death by three brothers, Field (Florence) Rahn, Miles (Cecelia) Rahn and Hilary (Beverly) Rahn; four brothers-in-law, George (Frances) Brath, Ray (Rosemary) Brath, Alphonse Brath and Michael Brath and two sisters-in-law, Paula (John) Fleischman and Betty (Sylvester) Jacak.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Steve was held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, 2014, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum with Father Edwin Kornath officiating. Burial was at 11:00 a.m. on Monday in the parish cemetery.

The Rahn family greeted relatives and friends at the church on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.

Memorials to the charity of one's choice were appreciated.

The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Steve's arrangements.
