Susan Ann Herther (nee Herman), 64, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
Susan “Sue” was born on April 16, 1960, in West Bend to Kenneth and Beverly (nee Butzke) Herman. On July 6, 1979, Sue was united in marriage to Thomas “Tom” Herther.
She began her career in 1990 as an Administrative Assistant working for the Village of Jackson, and after starting her family, went back to school and got her Associate Degree from Moraine Park Technical College. Subsequently, Sue moved on to the Jackson Police Department in 1993 until her retirement in 2016.
Outside of work, Sue loved immersing herself in a great book or expressing her creative passions through her crafting. As a lover of the outdoors, she could often be found walking the beautiful roads in the Town of Jackson; she even started an Adopt-a-Highway for the Hidden Springs Lake Association in Waushara County (near their lake house) and enjoyed beautifying her neighborhoods by cleaning up litter.
Sue and Tom have countless wonderful memories of their lake house, where the whole family would take to the water to go swimming, kayaking, and boating. It was a great escape and an even better time to be with her family and friends. Sue was always willing to lend a hand, which many times included dog-sitting and dog-walking. Above all, she was a proud wife, mother, and grandmother whose legacy will be carried on forever.
Those left to cherish Sue’s memory include her husband, Tom Herther; two children, Jason (Jennifer) Herther, and Megan (Tim) Gundrum; three grandchildren, Mason, Callen, and Charlotte Gundrum; father, Kenneth Herman; three sisters, Pamela (Paul) Esselman, Kay Herman, and Amy (Dan) Ermer; mother-in-law, Leola Herther; as well as many siblings-in-law, nieces, nephews, and family friends.
In addition to her mother, Beverly, Sue is preceded in death by her father-in-law, Reuben Herther.
