Susan M. Schmidt

Susan M. Schmidt, 57, of the town of Mitchell, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2010, with her family at her side, at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk.


She was born on June 14, 1952, in Rhinelander, the daughter of the late Robert and Geraldine (Coats) Nehls Formella, and on January 19, 1974, she was united in marriage to Martin “Dale” Schmidt in Brookfield.


Susan was employed by J.C. Penney in Wauwatosa for 34 years and most recently worked at Hoeft’s Resort and Campground on Crooked Lake and the YMCA Camp Matawa. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in New Fane and a former member of the Dundee Lions Club.


Those Susan leaves behind to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Dale; three stepsons, Rick (Lisa) Schmidt of Menomonee Falls, Scott (Michele) Schmidt of Brookfield and Kurt Schmidt of Milwaukee; her sisters and brother, Deborah (Tom) Otto of Germantown, Mary (Ken) Nelson of Mesquite, Nevada, Bob (Christine) Formella of Hartford, Margaret Mahlberg of Colgate, Marilyn Formella of Hales Corners and Marcia (William) Nosko of Saukville; three step-grandchildren, Angela, Venessa and Brandon Schmidt; her nieces, Nicole (Dan) Janke and Amanda Otto; her nephew, Jason (Deanna) Otto and their daughter, Kylie, other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Susan were held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at St. John Lutheran Church in New Fane. Rev. Mark Eckert officiated and burial was at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday in the church cemetery.


Relatives and friends called at the church on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services.
