Susan "Sue" A. (Bird) Heltemes

Susan “Sue” A. Heltemes (nee Bird), 78, of West Bend, found peace on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Cedar Lake Health & Rehabilitation Center, West Bend.

Sue was born on July 10, 1937 to the late Robert and Marguerite (nee Hebert) Bird in Fond du Lac, WI. She graduated from Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac in 1956 and then attended St. Agnes School of Nursing in Fond du Lac, graduating in 1959. On October 8, 1960 she was united in marriage to Andrew P. Heltemes in Fond du Lac. They resided in West Bend where she worked as a registered nurse at St. Joseph’s Community Hospital for 39 years.

Sue was a member of Holy Angels Parish, West Bend.  She enjoyed spending time in the north woods at Papoose Lake in Vilas County.  An avid sports fan, Sue loved the Packers. She enjoyed fishing, going to the casino, playing bingo, reading and word puzzles. Sue especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those Sue leaves behind to cherish her memory include her two sons, Scott (Lisa) Heltemes of Campbellsport and Todd Heltemes of Greenfield; two granddaughters, Samantha Heltemes and Madeline Heltemes; brother, Louis (Joanne) Bird; many nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew.

A funeral service in remembrance of Sue will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St. West Bend.

Sue’s family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be on Monday, September 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
