Taeko Gruber

Taeko Gruber, 86, of the town of Auburn, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at home surrounded by her family.

She was born on September 30, 1927, the daughter of the late Terachio and Uto (Takamine) Yasuda, and on July 5, 1951, she was united in marriage to Joseph Gruber in Okinawa.

Taeko was a graduate of Yomitan High School in Okinawa and obtained her U.S. citizenship in 1960. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening and gambling.

Taeko leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 63 years, Joseph; 10 children, Hatsue (Hisao) Yoshimoto of Okinawa, Mary Richards of the town of Auburn, Cathy Engelman of Campbellsport, Patricia Takamine of Mukwonago, Tony (Pam) Gruber of North Fond du Lac, Monica (Dennis) Kelley of Fond du Lac, Lena (Tom) Henessey and John Gruber both of Campbellsport, Gene (Pam) Gruber of Milwaukee and Rick (Michelle) Gruber of Oshkosh; three sisters, Yaeko of Waukesha and Harue and Shizue both of Okinawa; 35 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Taeko was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Benjamin and Joseph Jerominski; two brothers, Osamu and Minoru and five sisters, Teruko, Nobuko, Hideo, Nae and Seiei.

Funeral services for Taeko were held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2014, at the Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum. Father Edwin Kornath officiated and burial followed in Holy Trinity Catholic Church Cemetery in Kewaskum.

Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services.
