Thelma E. Stoffel

Thelma E. Stoffel, 81, of Lomira, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at the Walnut Grove Memory Care House in Fond du Lac.


She was born on April 6, 1929, in the town of Brothertown, the daughter of the late Frank and Ernestine (Rott) Nellessen, and on June 23, 1948, she was united in marriage to Roger J. Stoffel at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Le Roy.


Thelma was a graduate of Campbellsport High School and was employed by Regal Ware, Inc. in Kewaskum, retiring in 1991, after 38 years of service. She was a member of the Regal Ware 25 Year Club and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lomira.


Thelma will fondly be remembered for the enjoyment she received from playing bingo, card games, bowling and gardening. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandson and will be deeply missed by her husband, her family and by all who knew her.


Those Thelma leaves behind to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 62 years, Roger J. Stoffel; three children, Tom (Judy) Stoffel of Menasha, Mary Beth Stoffel (fiancé, Edwin Boyung) of West Bend and Gary Stoffel (special friend, Karrie) of Fond du Lac; three grandchildren, Dr. Ryan Stoffel (special friend, Brandy), Nicole Stoffel and Becky (Rob) Sepnafski; a great-grandson, Colby Sepnafski; a sister, Stella (Willard) Bauer of Le Roy; a sister-in-law, Patsy Nellessen of Fond du Lac, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Moria Stoffel; two brothers, Vincent (Arlene) and Roger Nellessen and a sister, Delores (Jerome) Scharf.


A Mass of Christian Burial for Thelma was held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 699 Milwaukee Street in Lomira. Father Neil Zinthefer officiated and burial followed in the church cemetery.

Relatives and friends called at the church on Wednesday from 3:00 pm. until the time of Mass.


Thelma’s family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Walnut Grove Memory Care House and Hospice Advantage for the compassionate care provided to her.
