Thomas C. Gross, age 74, of West Bend, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2012 at his residence.
Tom was born in Milwaukee, on January 9, 1938 to Ilo and Henrietta (nee Manz) Gross. He graduated from Washington High School. Tom served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He then went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Masters in Art. After teaching at several colleges, Tom came to West Bend in 1968 as the first professor of Fine Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Washington County. In 2001, Tom retired as Professor - Emeritus of Fine Arts after 35 years in the Wisconsin University system.
He was united in marriage to Jo Atwood on May 20, 1977 in Mauthe Lake State Park.
Tom is survived by his wife, Jo Gross of West Bend; two children, Justice Madl (fiancAC.e, Lisa) and Gwen (Mike) Morgan, both of West Bend; sister, Betty (Ed) Woskowski of Beaver Dam; other relatives and friends.
In honor of Tom's wishes, there will be no formal services.
