Thomas P. Mainzinger, 84, of West Bend, Wisconsin, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2007 at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
He was born on October 15, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Harry and Wilhelmina (nee Paull) Mainzinger. Tom graduated from Michigan State University in 1943 with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He served in the U.S. Navy as an officer on the submarine USS Cavalla during WWII and was present for the signing of the Japanese surrender that ended the war.
Tom was united in marriage to Edith Gould on June 23, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan. Edith passed away on February 15, 1982.
Tom was employed at Attwood Corp. in Grand Rapids, Michigan for several years and later was Vice-President at Kainer-Wesco in Wheeling, Illinois. In 1971 he moved to West Bend, Wisconsin and purchased Allenton Metal Finishing Corporation where he served as President until the time of his death.
He is survived by three children, Tom (Vickey) Mainzinger of Boltonville, Wisconsin, Sandy (Gordy) Miles of Whitewater, Wisconsin, and Brent (Elaine) Mainzinger of Batavia, Illinois; six grandchildren, Krysti (Michael) Turznik, David Mainzinger, Paul Mainzinger, Laura Mainzinger, Alison Miles, and Kelcie Miles; other relatives and friends.
An open house in celebration of Tom's life will be held on Saturday, May 5 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Tom's home in West Bend.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Heart Association would be appreciated.
