Thomas "Tom" Thadeus Gmirek

Thomas “Tom” T. Gmirek, 56, of West Bend, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 26, 2024.

He was born on December 28, 1967, to the late Leo and Carol (nee Nieme) Gmirek in Milwaukee, WI. Tom graduated from Hustisford High School in 1986. He received his BA degree from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater. On June 1, 1990, he was united in marriage to Melisa Frings in Mayville, WI. Tom was a Scout Leader for many years helping many boys to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, including his son. He was a big sports fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, Wisconsin Badgers, and Milwaukee Bucks. Tom enjoyed hiking outdoors with Melisa. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His strong faith in the Lord and patient spirit will always be remembered by and continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.

Those Tom leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Melisa Gmirek; his son, Samuel (Leah) Gmirek; father- and mother-in-law, Eugene and Patricia Frings; his uncle, Robert Gmirek; sister-in-law, Christina (Charles) White; niece, Aubrey White; nephew, Keaton White; friends, Steve and Mary Lein; other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

SERVICE: A memorial service in remembrance of Tom will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 809 S. 6th Ave., West Bend.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Horizon Hospice for all their help and care.
