Violet Schaetz

Violet H. Schaetz, nee Bergelin, 93, of West Bend, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital, West Bend.

She was born November 26, 1916 in Kewaunee, WI to the late Fred and Ernestine (nee Kitzerow) Bergelin. She married Louis J. Schaetz on November 24, 1938 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Glenmore. She farmed with her husband until his death on March 28, 1966. Violet then went to work at Preble School and Bellin Hospital. She later worked at Konop Vending/Heritage Food for many years, until retiring at the age of 77. In 1998 she moved from Green Bay to West Bend where enjoyed living at River Bend Senior Village. She also enjoyed crafts and sewing. She was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend.

She is survived by her son, Allen (Vivian) Schaetz of West Bend; three grandchildren, Lynn (Dave) McMullin of Novi, MI, James (Gwen) Schaetz of Lebanon, TN, and Thomas (Andrea) Schaetz of West Bend; eight great-grandchildren, Troy McMullin, Tyler McMullin, August Schaetz, Mary Schaetz, Morgan Schaetz, Elijah Schaetz, Melina Schaetz, and Alexander Schaetz; a sister, Erna Lorberblatt of Green Bay; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Bergelin of Green Bay; a Godchild, Susan Krawczyk of Green Bay; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Marilyn Schaetz, a son, James Schaetz, four sisters, Lenora Bergelin, Ruth Bergelin, Roselyn Bergelin, and Gertrude (Edward) Siebold; two brothers, Orville Bergelin and Gerhart (Ann) Bergelin; and a brother-in-law, Edward Lorberblatt.

Funeral services in remembrance of Violet will be held on Monday, May 10th at 3:30 p.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, West Bend, with Rev. Guy Roberts officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services. Burial will be on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church Cemetery, Glenmore.

Memorials to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in honor of Violet are appreciated.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Violet's friends at River Bend Senior Village, especially Deb, for their care and friendship over the years, to Dr. Gajic, the staff and nurses at St. Joseph's Hospital and the West Bend Rescue Squad.
