Virginia A. Kempf (nee Landvatter), age 93, of West Bend, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital in the town of Polk.
She was born on June 19, 1915 to the late Alvin and Ella (nee Hetzel) Landvatter. On September 2, 1950 she was united in marriage to Paul Kempf at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on October 23, 1993.
Virginia worked as a Deli Manager for Red Owl in West Bend until she retired in 1978. She was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church for many years.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Lynette (Gary) Backhaus of West Bend; two loving grandchildren, Paul & Debra Backhaus; her loving friend, Bonnie Wery of Allenton; many other dear relatives and close friends.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, her daughter, Donna Mae Kannel; her brother and sister-in-law, Earl (Malinda) Landvatter; and sister and brother-in-law, Florence (Edward) Hackbarth.
A Funeral Service in remembrance of Virginia will be held on Friday, February 27th at 2:30 pm at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church (809 S. 6th Avenue - West Bend) with Rev. Jeff Dorth officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 12:30 pm until the time of the service. Burial will take place in Washington County Memorial Park following the service.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society and St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church are appreciated.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Pahl and the nursing staff at St. Joseph's Hospital for their care of Virginia. Also, to Bernice and Jeri for the many years of friendship and caring.
