Vivian A. Stockhausen, (nee Fischer) age 86, of West Bend, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at SynergyHealth St. Joseph's Hospital.
She was born on November 27, 1919 in Newburg to the late Philip and Catharina (nee Greiten) Fischer. She was raised in Newburg where her father ran the general store. Vivian graduated from West Bend High School in the class of 1937.
On June 1, 1946 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Stockhausen at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Newburg. Together they made their home in West Bend. In 1961 they built their current home and have been blessed in growing old together there.
Lawrence and Vivian started their own construction firm, Lawrence Stockhausen, Inc., specializing in single-family homes and also built several West Bend Apartments. Vivian was Vice President and Treasurer, she handled all the bookkeeping and office details until their children David, Curt, Annette, and Terry took over the daily operations in 1980.
She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend. Vivian was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, and entertaining. Christmas was her special holiday. Vivian was affectionately referred to as the "Energizer Bunny".
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence; six children, David Stockhausen, Linda (Andy) Gehring, Curtis (Dale) Stockhausen, Dennis Stockhausen, Terry (Janet) Stockhausen, all of West Bend, and Annette (Richard) Koller of Las Vegas, NV; seven grandchildren, Dominic Gehring, Spring Gehring, Alex Kain, Elizabeth Kain, Nate Stockhausen, Erinn Stockhausen, and Cari Stockhausen; four step-grandchildren, Karen (John) Sauer, Robert (Jackie) Koller, Kathy (Randy) Handel, and Kelly (Tony) Barth; 12 step-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Eleanore Fischer, Bernadine Wollner, and Trautie Stockhausen, all of West Bend; two brothers-in-law, Vincent (Janet) Stockhausen, and Merlin (Donna) Stockhausen, both of West Bend; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Cecelia Casper, and Eleanor Verhaalen; six brothers, Albert, Harold, Philip Jr., Richard, Leroy, and Kenneth; and a granddaughter, Rebecca Stockhausen.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday April 18th at 5:00 pm at Holy Angles Catholic Church. Rev. Jerry Brittain will be the celebrant. Visitation will be Tuesday at the church only from 2:00 pm until the time of Mass. Burial will be in Holy Angels Cemetery on Wednesday at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to The Threshold would be appreciated.
