Warren W. Wilkens, age 84, of Fredonia, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at St. Joseph's Hospital in the town of Polk.
He was born on November 2, 1926 in West Bend to the late Herman and Martha (nee Schoedel) Wilkens. On June 20, 1953, Warren was united in marriage to Joan Beimborn at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Newburg.
He worked as a welder at the Gehl Company for 37 years, retiring in 1991. in addition to working on his parent's farm he also helped several neighbors on their farms over the years.
Warren was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Newburg and the Gehl Company Hexelbank Club. He also was a volunteer for the Newburg Fire Department for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Joan of Fredonia; six children, Sandra Wilkens of West Bend, Gerald (Shelley) Wilkens of West Bend, Dennis (special friend, Michelle) Wilkens of West Bend, Donald (Kim) Wilkens of Germantown, Robert (Kristine) Wilkens of Adell and Richard (special friend, Angie) Wilkens of West Bend; two grandchildren, Patricia and Noah Wilkens; brother, Rollin (Barbara) Wilkens of Elkton, FL; two sisters-in-law, Jean Beimborn of Newburg and Connie Puerling of Newburg; other relatives and friends.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents; sister and her husband, Jeannette (Gerald) Ziehr; brother-in-law, John Beimborn; and grandson, Nathan Wilkens.
Funeral services in remembrance of Warren will be held on Saturday, September 24th at 1:00 pm at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Newburg (623 Congress St.). Rev. Jon Baumann will officiate. Burial will follow in St. John's Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday at the church from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
