Willard W. Prost

Willard W. “Barney” Prost, 86, of Kewaskum, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at The Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk.


He was born on January 20, 1920, in the town of Kewaskum, the son of the late Wilmer and Viola (Schultz) Prost, and was a 1937 graduate of Kewaskum High School. On November 8, 1958, he was united in marriage to Dolores Jansen.


A lifelong resident of the area, Barney farmed in the town of Kewaskum for many years and was employed by Carroll Haug Roofing for many years. He later worked for Equity Livestock Sales Association in Lomira, retiring after over 20 years of service.
Barney was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum, Modern Woodmen, Kewaskum Sportsman Club, Moose Lodge West Bend 1398, and the Birthday Club.


Barney will fondly be remembered for his sense of humor and his passion for sports, both as a participant and as a fan. In his younger years, he participated in high school basketball and baseball and after high school played for the home talent team for many years. Barney was a loyal fan of the Kewaskum Indians, Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers, and Milwaukee Brewers. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid sheepshead and skat player.


Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years,Dolores; two daughters, Janine (Scott) Prost-Domasky of St. Louis, Missouri and Bonnie (Ron) Will of Kewaskum; three grandchildren, Chad Will of Gillett, Kelli Jo Will (special friend, Greg Anderson) of Appleton and Mandi (Jeff) Rahmer of St. Cloud, Wisconsin; two sisters-in-law, Joan Jansen of Schofield and Dorothy Jansen of West Bend, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.


In addition to his parents, Barney was preceded in death by a brother, Wilmer Prost, Jr.; a sister, Burnette (Paul) Schmitt; a great-niece, Brenda Oelhafen; two brothers-in-law, Eugene Jansen and Earl Jansen and a nephew, Greg Jansen.


A memorial service for Barney was held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2006, at Peace United Church of Christ, 343 First Street, Kewaskum. Rev. Daniel V. Schowalter and Rev. William Wiederanders officiated and burial of the cremains was in the church cemetery.


The family received visitors on Saturday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services.
