William F. Haack

June 2, 1935 — December 8, 2007

William F. Haack, 72, of the town of Scott, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2007, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center in the town of West Bend.


He was born on June 2, 1935, in West Bend, the son of the late Ervin and Helen (Ramel) Haack, and on November 11, 1961, he was united in marriage to Jane Elliott in Sheboygan Falls. Jane preceded William in death on December 15, 2006.


William proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and he was employed by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department as a corrections officer for 15 years. William enjoyed working at the YMCA Kettle Moraine Camp Matawa, especially working with the horses. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott.


Survivors include five children, Jim (Pam) Haack of Tomahawk, Dan (Lisa) Haack of Rhinelander, Jonathan Haack of Fond du Lac, Joanna (David) Mellenthin of Kewaskum and Dollie Rains of Bettendorf, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Amanda and Rebecca Woller, Barbara Rae Jane and Josiah Haack, Ashley and Cecily Mellenthin, Abigail and Benjamin Rains; a great-grandson, Trevor James Houpt; two sisters, Bernice Goedde of Plymouth and Beatrice (Kenneth) Stahl of Fort Wayne, Indiana, other relatives and friends.


In addition of his wife and parents, William was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Victor Goedde.


Funeral services for William were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2007, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott(1 1/2 miles straight south of Beechwood on Highway A, then Highway HH) with Rev. Kurt Ziemann officiating. Military graveside rites and burial followed in the church cemetery.


Relatives and friends called on Wednesday at the church from noon until the time of services.
