William G. “Bill” Lehmann, 91, of Kewaskum, formerly of West Bend and Minocqua, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2008, at Kettle Moraine Gardens in Kewaskum.
He was born on June 7, 1917, in West Bend, the son of Arthur Stauss and Esther (Boettcher) Stauss, and on July 18, 1940, he was united in marriage to Mary Freehauf in Hartford. In 1978, Bill and Mary moved to Minocqua (Squirrel Lake). Mary preceded him in death on August 1, 1980. On June 26, 1982, Bill was united in marriage to Florence Meyer, and in 2000, they returned to West Bend.
Bill was employed by the West Bend Company in West Bend for 37 years and was a member of the 25 Year Club. He was a member of Bo-Di-Lac Fire Department and was recognized as the Firefighter of the Year in 1984 and 1992. He was also a member of the former BBD Snowmobile Club, was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge West Bend 1398 and a member of New Hope United Church of Christ in the town of Jackson. Bill will fondly be remembered for his love of fishing and visiting casinos.
Survivors include his wife, Florence; two sons, William (Clare) Lehmann of Kewaskum and Dale (Marlene) Lehmann of Minocqua; three stepchildren, Ann Stoffel, Walter Meyer and Mary (Ronnie) Krell all of West Bend; a stepdaughter-in-law, Jean (Jim) Gorman of West Bend; 13 grandchildren, Donna (Steve) Beck, Carol (Larry) Sabel, Bill (Nicole) Lehmann, Steve (Christina) Lehmann, Mary Lehmann, John (Dorene) Stoffel, Joseph (Margaret) Stoffel, Robert Stoffel, Jeff (Josephine) Meyer, Jill (Brian) Zimmerman, Carrie, Kristen and Rebecca Krell; two brothers-in-law, Donald Freehauf of West Bend and Fritz Freehauf of Jackson; 15 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his first wife, Mary, and his parents, Bill was preceded in death by an infant son, Roger; a brother, Kenneth Stauss; a stepson, John Meyer and two brothers-in-law, Paul and Carl Freehauf.
Funeral services for Bill were held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2008, at New Hope United Church of Christ, 4360 Jackson Drive, in the town of Jackson. Rev. Jim Hill officiated and burial followed in Friedens Peace Cemetery in the town of Jackson.
Relatives and friends called on Sunday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services.
