William E. "Bill" Marsh

August 25, 1921 — February 25, 2015

William E. "Bill" Marsh, 93, of Big Cedar Lake passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born on August 25, 1921 in Edgar, WI to the late Frederick and Martha (nee Hughs) Marsh. Bill served honorable in the United States Coast Guard during WW II. After his return Bill was united in marriage to Lorraine Shampo on April 22, 1944 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Milwaukee.

Bill and Lorraine built their home in Glendale and summered on Big Cedar Lake. In 1984 Bill retired from C.G. Schmidt Construction Company in Milwaukee after 32 years, and they moved to Big Cedar Lake full time.

Bill was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. He was a former member of the Nabob Snowmobile Club, and Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseshoe league at Heilman's, and riding his bike every day until age 92.

He is survived by a daughter, Judith (Dennis Sr.) Johnson, of Kewaskum; two grandchildren, Laurie (Tom) O'Brien of Slinger, and Dennis (Matt Mulligan) Johnson Jr. of Madison; four great-grandchildren, Morgan O'Brien, Dylan O'Brien, Maddy Johnson, and Lauren Johnson; a sister, Veronica Venstra of Pembine; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Shampo of Niagara; a brother-in-law, Dr. Dale (Lucy) Shampo of Iron Mountain, MI; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Lorraine in 2013; a son, William "Butch" Marsh; three sisters, Edith, Gwen, and Jean; two brothers, Bertram, and Sidney; two brothers-in-law, Kenneth and Gerald Shampo; sister-in-law, Donna Shampo.

A memorial Mass in remembrance of Bill will be held on Saturday April 18th at St. Lawrence Catholic Church (4868 State Road 175). Burial of his cremated remains with full military honors will follow in St. Matthias Cemetery, Nabob.
