William E. Sellhausen

July 10, 1926 — April 23, 2010

William E. "Bill" Sellhausen, age 83, of West Bend, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2010 at the Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center in the Town of West Bend.

Bill was born on July 10, 1926 in Milwaukee to the late William O. and Lillian (nee Sikora) Sellhausen. He served his country honorably during WWII by enlisting in the United States Navy and serving on the LST 700. On March 22, 1947, following his return from the service, Bill was united in marriage to the love of his life Helen Offenbecher. Together they shared 63 years of marriage during which time Bill enjoyed a long career as a lithographer until his retirement.

In 1973 Bill and Helen moved from Milwaukee to Little Cedar Lake in West Bend. Since 1976 Bill was know around the lake as the "cannon guy" who faithfully honored his country every 4th of July with hourly blasts from his canon that echoed from shore to shore. Next to his family, Bill loved fishing, hunting, and living on the lake.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Helen of West Bend; his three children, William A (Christine) Sellhausen of Hartford, Shiranda Deerwoman of Payson AZ, and Sandra Minney of West Bend; his five grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his "adopted daughter", Linda Kreutzer of West Bend; his sister, Betty (Harold) Schuster of Heartland; and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.

In honor of Bill's wishes, private family services will be held at a later date.
