Wilmer J. Schmidt, 77, of the town of Kewaskum, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2011, at his home with his family at his side.
He was born on March 23, 1934, in the town of Barton, the son of the late Arnold and Eleanore (Doms) Schmidt, and on June 9, 1956, he was united in marriage to Beverly Winters at Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum. Beverly preceded Wilmer in death on September 28, 2006.
Wilmer worked for many years in the lime quarry in Marblehead before moving to Kewaskum where he worked at the Malt House of Kewaskum, Quick Split in Campbellsport and delivering newspapers for the West Bend News, while farming.
Those Wilmer leaves behind to cherish his memory include three children, John Schmidt and Sharon (Jeff) Shaw of Kewaskum and Mary (Bruce) Bauer of Plainfield; ten grandchildren, Julia Shaw (fiancé, Tony Rueth), Jeffrey II (Jessica) Shaw, Jamey Rieger, Shelly (Mike) Laukant, Breanna, Maranda, Brian and Michael Bauer, Ambre Bush and James Shaw; dear friends, David and Gina Young and their children, Tyler and Kyle of Campbellsport; a brother-in-law, Charles Winters of Ripon; a sister-in-law, Judy (David) Smith of Eldorado; his first great-grandchild to be born in March of 2012, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Wilmer was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Justin and Mabel Winters and a brother-in-law, Ruben Oppermann.
Funeral services for Wilmer were held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2011, at the Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum. Chaplain David Stone officiated and cremation followed.
Relatives and friends called on Sunday at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services.
