Margaret B. Hilbert (nee Mayer), 84, of Mayville was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 9, 2018.
She was born on August 24, 1933 to the late Joseph and Mary (nee Zangl) Mayer in the Town of LeRoy. She worked at Purity Cheese Company in Mayville, where she met Francis W. Hilbert. They were united in marriage on June 16, 1956, at St. Andrew’s in LeRoy. Margaret was a homemaker, raising their five children, and a devout member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. When Francis retired, together they became avid gardeners, and the transformation of their back yard into a lush garden oasis brought them great joy.
Margaret leaves behind her five children, Helen Hilbert of Oshkosh, Barbara (Robert) Brummond of Forest, VA, John Hilbert of Mayville, Rosemary (Jeff Norman) Hilbert of Milwaukee, and Joseph Hilbert of Mayville; two grandchildren, Dr. Mary (Garth) Lester of Gainesville, FL and David Brummond of Springfield, VA; two sisters, Mary Jane Polster and Adeline (Bob) Stommel; two sisters-in-law, Helen Reabe and Mary Hilbert; two brothers-in-law, Paul Hartman and Alfons Hilbert; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Francis Hilbert; two sisters, Anita (Larry) Brockman and Joann (Paul) Hartmann, and her brother, Leo Mayer.
A Mass of Christian Burial in remembrance of Margaret will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mayville. Burial will be at 2:45 p.m. at St. Mary's Cemetery in Mayville.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the church Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. A lunch will follow Mass.
The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses, CNAs, and staff at Hope Health and Rehab in Lomira, who lovingly cared for and became Margaret’s extended family for the last years of her life. The family would also like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff of Agnesian Hospice for all their help and care to Margaret and her late husband Francis, and to her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in support of Hospice at Agnesian HealthCare Foundation, Inc. are appreciated.
